Dabur India on Wednesday said Mohit Malhotra, Global CEO and Whole-time Director, has decided to step down from his position, effective November 13, to pursue personal interests. As part of a leadership transition, Herjit S Bhalla, currently Chief Executive Officer of the India business, has been elevated to the company’s board as a Whole-time Director for five years, effective November 14.
The homegrown FMCG major said Bhalla will continue to lead the growth agenda for the India business. At the same time, PD Narang, who currently serves as a Whole-time Director, will continue as Group Director – Corporate Affairs while providing strategic guidance across the Dabur Group’s businesses, including oversight of the International Business.
In a statement, Mohit Burman, Chairman of Dabur India, said: “This planned transition clarifies leadership responsibilities and accountability while ensuring continuity as the company advances its priorities and prepares for its next phase of growth.” Malhotra, who has had a three-decade long stint at Dabur, was named the Group CEO in 2019.
“On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Malhotra for his over three decades of service to Dabur and his contribution to the organisation. We wish him the very best as he pursues his personal interests. Bhalla’s elevation to the Board reflects our confidence in his leadership and the central role of the India business in Dabur’s growth. We are confident that Dabur’s businesses, including the International Business, will continue to benefit from Narang’s strategic guidance, drawing on his four decades of experience with the Group,” Burman added.
Bhalla, who joined Dabur earlier this year, has had a career spanning 25 years in the FMCG and retail space. He spent over 16 years at Unilever in management roles across India and international markets, followed by global leadership positions at The Hershey Company and METRO Cash & Carry India.
