For the first half of the fiscal year (H1FY27), consolidated net profit grew 33 per cent YoY to ₹1,211 crore. This came on a revenue growth of 22 per cent YoY to ₹14,547 crore.
The revenue of the Chennai-headquartered healthcare major got a boost from volume growth as hospital occupancy in Q2FY27 stood at 73 per cent compared with 69 per cent in Q2 FY26.
Krishnan Akhileshwaran, Group CFO, AHEL, told businessline that the performance was aided by a mix of volume growth (which came in at a healthy 14 per cent), pricing levers and the mix in terms of cases. Some specialties such as cardio, ortho, and others grew faster than overall growth, he added.
Consolidated revenue from the Healthcare Services division increased by 23 per cent to ₹3,900 crore in Q2 FY27. International patient services revenue grew 37% YoY in Q2 FY27, and Akhileswaran said this was due to a rebound in inflow from Bangladesh and good traction in Africa. In fact, we are also seeing more patients from Europe and developed nations, he added.
Akhileshwaran said Apollo HealthCo business has broken even on the online side of the business and the new entity that combines the digital and pharmacy businesses is on track to list by Q4FY27.
The Apollo Health and Lifestyle segment, which includes primary care services and diagnostics business, saw gross revenue at ₹429 crore, a 20% YoY growth.
Further, AHEL informed exchanges that Dr. Madhu Sasidhar, who was the President & CEO – Hospitals Division is stepping down effective November 14 on completion of his tenure. Separately, the company appointed Dr. Ritu Garg as Chief Executive Officer – Multi Regions (North, Central, Western and Eastern), and also appointed a new Chief Business Officer, International and Chief Procurement Officer.
On increased government scrutiny over pricing, the CFO said that Apollo and the larger Indian healthcare sector offers quality healthcare at almost one-tenth of the global levels of cost. “It is not right to see the costs item by item; our average revenue per patient is about ₹1.8 lakh and margins are around 10-15%; that is a better to way to see for healthcare services businesses,” he said. “We would like to reiterate that we are affordable and accessible to all,” he added.
Apollo Hospital said its expansion programme is on track to add ~ 5,800 beds over the next five years.
Shares of AHEL ended the trading day at ₹8,599.50, up 1.89 per cent on the NSE.
