Johnnie Walker has launched its first India-inspired limited-edition whisky, the Blue Label Festive Blend, marking a new chapter for the nearly 200-year-old Scotch brand. Available in India, the UK, the US, and Global Duty Free channels, the expression was unveiled at an event at The Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai, on October 30, with actor Alia Bhatt among those in attendance.
The blend was crafted by Master Blender Dr Emma Walker, drawing from over 10 million casks held by the brand. Only one in every 10,000 casks meets the standard for Johnnie Walker Blue Label; a still smaller selection was used for this expression. The flavour profile includes cardamom, saffron, rosewater, citrus, honey, chocolate-dipped fruit, warm spices, and a hint of smoke.
The Mumbai launch also featured a projection on the Gateway of India tied to the brand’s “Keep Walking” philosophy.
Ruchira Jaitly, Chief Marketing Officer at Diageo India, said India is playing an increasingly important role in shaping the future of the whisky category, and the blend reflects both the market’s significance and the brand’s intent to create culturally relevant luxury experiences.
Johnnie Walker, owned by Diageo and distributed in India through its subsidiary United Spirits Limited, is the world’s top-selling Scotch whisky by volume, according to IWSR 2024 data, selling over 22 million cases annually across more than 160 countries.
