Smart kitchen technology company Beyond Appliances has raised ₹110 crore in a Series B funding round led by Fireside Ventures, with participation from Dharana Capital and other investors, as it looks to step up research and development, expand manufacturing capacity and enter new kitchen categories.
The Bengaluru-based company plans to set up a new manufacturing plant, which will complement its existing facilities in Sonipat and Bengaluru. The additional capacity will support its plan to build a ₹500 crore annual recurring revenue (ARR) business over the next three years.
“We currently have two manufacturing facilities, one in Sonipat and another in Bengaluru, and the new facility will complement these capabilities,” said Eshwar K Vikas, co-founder and CEO, Beyond Appliances.
The company said the location and specifications of the new plant are yet to be finalised, with its capacity and operational timeline to be determined subsequently. The investment will also be used to strengthen product development and engineering capabilities.
Beyond Appliances plans to enter the oven category over the next 9–12 months. The company sees an opportunity to develop an appliance focused on cooking rather than primarily reheating, which it believes could address specific requirements of Indian kitchens.
“We plan to enter the oven category over the next 9–12 months. We feel that microwaves are primarily used for reheating food, while there is still an opportunity to build a better product focused on the actual cooking process and the needs of Indian kitchens,” Vikas said.
The new categories are expected to contribute around 15–20 per cent to the company’s current revenue as they are launched and scaled. Beyond Appliances currently sells Android and Plug-N-Play chimneys, smart hobs and cooktops.
The company said 15 per cent of its revenue comes through customer referrals and that its marketplace market share has doubled over the past year. It is also expanding its omnichannel footprint through its D2C platform, marketplaces, offline retail and experience centres.
Fireside Ventures said the company has combined product innovation with in-house R&D and manufacturing capabilities.
“Very few early-stage brands demonstrate the depth of fundamentals that Beyond Appliances has built at this stage of its journey,” said Shuchi Pandya, principal, Fireside Ventures.
The company plans to expand its offline presence to 10 additional cities over the next three years. Vikas said the new manufacturing capacity would be important to support the company’s expansion into additional categories.
“We see these categories as an important part of expanding our overall addressable market and supporting our broader growth ambitions over the next few years,” he said.
