Tata Group stocks fell up to 5 per cent on Wednesday after Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran had resigned, triggering a selloff across the conglomerate’s listed companies.
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) led the losses, falling 5 per cent, while Tata Motors PV declined 4 per cent. Tata Steel fell 2 per cent.
N Chandrasekaran to exit Tata Sons, not to seek third term
At 11.52 am, TMPV shares were down 2.5 per cent at ₹338.90, hitting a low of ₹334.20. TCS fell 4.85 per cent to ₹2,347.40, hitting a low of ₹2,322.
Titan Company, Tata Elxsi, Tata Technologies, Tata Consumer Products, Tata Investment Corporation and Tejas Networks also traded in negative territory. Trent and Tata Motors traded flat.
N Chandrasekaran has resigned as chairman of Tata Sons but will serve out his current term.
Chandrasekaran’s term as chairman of Tata Sons ends in February 2027. He has decided not to seek reappointment for a third term, bringing an end to his nine-year tenure at the helm of India’s largest conglomerate.
