After winning unanimous critical acclaim for Sing Geetham, producer Nag Ashwin and executive director Sankalp Gora sat down with Gulte Pro’s Ram Venkat Srikar for an honest conversation about mentorship, collaboration and the creative journey behind the film.
Nag Ashwin said the team spent nearly eight to nine months inside a room discussing and developing the script. He described the process as intense, collaborative and driven by constant interactions with Singeetham Srinivasa Rao, who joined daily Zoom sessions and remained deeply involved in shaping every scene.
He also spoke about building the team largely on instinct rather than experience. Most of the people around him were first timers and he preferred their fresh perspectives. According to him, the chaos brought by new voices often created exciting creative possibilities and helped the film find its own identity.
Sankalp Gora recalled joining the project after reconnecting with the team years later. What began as an invitation to be part of the direction department gradually turned into greater responsibilities. He described the opportunity as a dream and said he never imagined being part of such an ambitious project.
Sankalp revealed that the script constantly evolved throughout production. Every schedule was followed by reviews, discussions and refinements. Scenes, dialogues and even musical portions were revisited repeatedly to ensure the story remained emotionally effective and clear.
One striking aspect of the conversation was how Nag Ashwin allowed Sankalp Gora to explain much of the creative journey himself. Instead of speaking for the entire team, he ensured that Sankalp received recognition for his contributions and experiences during the making of the film.
