Suzlon Energy reported a 69 per cent year-on-year decline in consolidated net profit to ₹394 crore for the September quarter of FY27, primarily reflecting a high base in the year-ago period when the company recognised a deferred tax asset of ₹891 crore. Revenue from operations rose 26 per cent to ₹4,869 crore, supported by higher deliveries and growth across its renewable energy businesses.
Excluding the impact of the deferred tax asset created in Q2 FY26, Suzlon’s comparable net profit increased 1.3 per cent y-o-y to ₹394 crore from ₹389 crore, according to the company’s earnings release. Reported net profit in the year-ago quarter stood at ₹1,279 crore. The company said the adjusted comparison better reflected its underlying profitability, as the previous year’s tax adjustment had significantly inflated reported earnings.
EBITDA stood at ₹720 crore in the September quarter, against ₹721 crore a year earlier. The EBITDA margin fell to 15 per cent from 19 per cent a year earlier, indicating pressure on operating profitability despite higher revenue.
Suzlon reported record India deliveries of 710 MW in the quarter, up 26 per cent from 565 MW a year earlier. For the first half of FY27, the company commissioned 723 MW of projects, including projects involving Juniper Green Energy, Aditya Birla Renewables, Zelestra, Brookfield and Yanara.
The company’s order book exceeded 6 GW, while order intake in the first half crossed 1.5 GW. “Our record Q2 deliveries of 710 MW and strong commissioning of 454 MW reflect stronger execution and are driving revenue growth,” said Ajay Kapur, CEO of Suzlon Group. The company also said its net worth had crossed ₹10,000 crore and that CRISIL had upgraded its long-term rating to AA-/Stable.
Separately, Suzlon Energy’s board approved the acquisition of 100 per cent of Suzlon Foundation for ₹10 lakh. The foundation, a Section 8 not-for-profit company incorporated in 2007, undertakes welfare and charitable activities. Suzlon said the acquisition would allow it to manage and scale its corporate social responsibility initiatives more effectively, with the company and the wider group continuing to route their CSR spending through the foundation. The transaction is expected to be completed by the first week of November.
The board also approved an investment of approximately ₹1 crore in OE Business Park Pvt Ltd, through which Suzlon expects to hold about 99 per cent of the entity’s equity in Q3 FY27. The entity is the special-purpose vehicle that holds Suzlon’s One Earth corporate headquarters in Pune. Suzlon had sold the property to OE Business Park in September 2024 and leased it back for five years, while retaining call options that would allow it to reacquire an economic interest in the property.
The proposed investment follows the exercise of those options and is intended to enable Suzlon to hold the One Earth premises through the property-owning entity.
