EV-maker Simple Energy has raised ₹1,750 crore in its Series C round, led by the family office of Dr Arokiaswamy Velumani, with participation from Founder and CEO Suhas Rajkumar, Co-Founder and CFO Ankit Gupta, Bengaluru-based HNI Amit Mishra and the Haran Family Office.
The latest round is the company’s largest funding raise to date, coming three months after its ₹250-crore Series B round in June. The fundraise also follows Simple Energy’s entry into the family scooter segment with the launch of Simple Wave.
The company will deploy the fresh capital towards expanding manufacturing capacity, strengthening its vendor base and scaling its sales and service network, said Shreshth Mishra, Co-Founder, Simple Energy. The company is also working towards becoming profitable, he added.
Mishra said rising costs of metals and other non-metal components remained a key challenge for the company. Simple Energy is working on both sourcing strategies and engineering interventions to reduce the impact of higher input costs and improve its ability to meet demand, he said.
Simple Energy’s monthly sales have grown more than fourfold over the past year, driven by its Simple One and Simple Wave models. The company has more than 80 outlets across over 60 cities, including Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai and Patna.
Over the past eight months, it has launched two products — Simple Wave and Simple Ultra — targeting the family and performance scooter segments, respectively.
With the latest round, Simple Energy’s total capital raised has crossed ₹2,530 crore from family offices, HNIs and other investors.
