Contract-food service company Rassense is targeting ₹1,000 crore in revenue by FY30 as the food services company looks to build its healthcare and corporate catering businesses while continuing to grow organically.
The company, which has expanded revenue from ₹291 crore to about ₹600 crore since its buyout, is not currently looking at acquisitions despite increasing consolidation in India’s food services industry.
“We believe if we execute well organically, we can meet the market requirements better than through acquisitions,” Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Sanjay Kumar said.
Healthcare remains a relatively untapped segment for the company, contributing less than 2 per cent of its revenue currently. Education accounts for about 25–30 per cent, while corporate clients make up most of the remaining revenue.
Rassense plans to expand healthcare food services and corporate catering over the next two years, including through central kitchens. The company will evaluate whether to raise debt or equity to support the corporate catering expansion as part of its planning for the next financial year.
The company currently serves about 3.5 lakh meals a day and adds around 9–10 large corporate clients each year. However, sales cycles can stretch to 10–12 months as large customers gradually consolidate food-service contracts across multiple locations.
Kumar said the company’s revenue mix remains concentrated in north and west India, which contribute around 55–60 per cent of revenue, while south India accounts for 40–45 per cent. The company expects this mix to remain broadly stable.
Rassense is also cautious about acquisitions, citing the complexity of integrating businesses with different compliance standards and operating practices. Each site can require 10–11 licences, while investments in employee benefits and technology can weigh on margins.
