Pearl Global Industries Ltd (PGIL) has strengthened its manufacturing footprint in Bangladesh with the commissioning of a new garment manufacturing facility and the expansion of its sustainable laundry capacity, taking its total installed manufacturing capacity across geographies to about 108 million pieces annually.
The new Bangladesh manufacturing unit will add around 7 million pieces of annual garment capacity at optimum utilisation, further expanding the apparel exporter’s multi-country manufacturing network across South Asia, South-East Asia and Central America.
“We continue to focus on strategic capital expenditure to capture growth opportunities in Bangladesh and strengthen our position in this important sourcing market,” stated Pulkit Seth, Vice-Chairman and Non-Executive Director, Pearl Global Industries, in an official release on Tuesday.
Seth said Bangladesh remained a growth driver for the group, supported by its trade access to major global markets. The latest capacity addition, he added, would strengthen the company’s ability to serve global customers and build a scalable manufacturing platform.
The company is also expanding its in-house sustainable laundry capacity in Bangladesh. The move is aimed at improving operational efficiency, reducing washing costs and lowering water consumption.
According to Managing Director Pallab Banerjee, the new facility will allow Pearl Global to leverage Bangladesh’s established apparel manufacturing ecosystem and skilled, cost-efficient workforce, while catering to the evolving requirements of international customers.
The laundry expansion is expected to generate a return on capital employed (ROCE) of approximately 18-20%, the company said.
With the new capacity, Pearl Global said it is further strengthening its ability to offer customers a diversified, multi-country sourcing and manufacturing platform.
