Nasdaq-listed US drugmaker Amneal Pharmaceuticals has inaugurated a ₹135-crore administrative office in Ahmedabad, expanding its corporate infrastructure in India as it strengthens its global research, development and manufacturing capabilities.
The new facility spans approximately 3.35 lakh square feet and can accommodate around 1,200 employees, stated an official release here. The investment will bring key teams together and support the company’s research and development, manufacturing and corporate functions. “This new Ahmedabad office reflects Amneal’s continued investment in the people and capabilities that support its global business. India is an important part of our network, complementing our significant and growing US manufacturing footprint,” stated Chirag Patel, co-founder and co-chief executive officer of Amneal. The new office is intended to strengthen collaboration across the company’s global operations, which span the US, India and Ireland.
The inauguration builds on Amneal’s broader investment plans for India. In October 2024, the company announced a net investment of $150 million to $200 million over four to five years to establish two greenfield manufacturing facilities in Ahmedabad — one focused on peptide synthesis and the other on advanced sterile fill-finish manufacturing.
The projects are aimed at expanding its capabilities to develop and manufacture complex medicines for India and international markets. Amneal has invested approximately $600 million in India over the past decade, according to its 2024 announcement. The company began operations in the country in 2008 and operates eight manufacturing sites, including five in Ahmedabad, with additional facilities in Dahej, Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam. It also has a commercial office in Mumbai. “Our colleagues in India play an important role in advancing Amneal’s research, development, manufacturing and business operations,” stated Chintu Patel, co-founder and co-chief executive officer.
Amneal’s global business spans complex generics, injectables, specialty medicines and biosimilars. In August 2026, the company acquired Kashiv BioSciences, further expanding its biosimilar development and manufacturing capabilities.
