The Mumbai Indians (MI) suffer yet another loss, as the (SRH) completed a six-wicket victory at the Wankhede Stadium in Match 41 of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL).
Electing to bat first at home, the five-time champions put on a mammoth total of 243/5 in their 20 overs, as scored an unbeaten 123 off just 55 balls, the highest score ever by a Mumbai Indians batter in the tournament. MI were off to a blistering start in the powerplay, scoring 78 runs off the first six overs without losing any wickets. Will Jacks, playing his first game of the season, scored a 22-ball 46.
Rickelton was the star of the show, carrying his bat till the end, with 10 fours and eight sixes in his innings. He reached his century off 44 balls, the fastest by a Mumbai Indians player. Captain Hardik Pandya scored a 15-ball 31 in the back end of the innings. Eshan Malinga was the pick of the bowlers for SRH, with brilliant figures of 1/29 from four overs, being the only bowler to go below eight runs an over.
The Sunrisers started their chase in brilliant fashion, with an opening partnership of 129 runs off just 52 balls. Travis Head was the aggressor, scoring a 30-ball 76, backed up by Abhishek Sharma, who scored 45 off 24 balls. AM Ghazanfar dismissed Abhishek and Ishan Kishan off successive balls, but held his nerve with an unbeaten 30-ball 65. He was the aggressor in an 80-run stand off 40 balls with Nitish Kumar Reddy, before Salil Arora scored a 10-ball 30 to take the Sunrisers home with eight balls to spare.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad strengthen their case for the playoffs with 12 points off six wins, sitting in third place in the standings. The Mumbai Indians record their sixth loss of the season and sit in ninth place in the standings with just four points from two wins.
