US-based technology distributor Ingram Micro has opened more than 500 positions in India this year, as it expands its workforce to tap growing demand across data centres, AI, cybersecurity, cloud and devices.
Of the new positions, 70-80 per cent are for the company’s India operations, and the rest for its global capability centre (GCC), said Flavio Moraes Junior, Chief Country Executive, Ingram Micro India. “We’re still working for 100 plus [positions].” The company is continuing to hire across business development, sales and pre-sales roles, with the increasing complexity of technology solutions requiring more specialised technical expertise.
“We are in the same pace because we are following the country’s opportunity,” said Moraes.
India is the second-largest market globally for the company. All of its business units in the country are currently growing, he said, including mobility, data centres and cloud. While he did not disclose the growth rate for individual businesses, Moraes said all of them were recording double-digit growth, with some growing faster.
Data centres are emerging as a key growth driver, particularly as AI adoption increases demand for computing infrastructure. Existing data centres are also being modernised to accommodate GPU-based servers, while cybersecurity and networking are becoming increasingly important components of AI deployments.
“AI is driving a lot of technology adoption across,” said Moraes. “If you’re talking about data centre products, if you’re talking about cybersecurity, if you’re talking about cloud, even mobility in PCs, AI is helping driving that demand.”
The company is also expanding its physical infrastructure in India. It is moving to a larger warehouse facility in Pune and plans to add more capabilities, including IT asset-disposal services at its Bengaluru warehouse. Ingram Micro is also expanding its network of smaller facilities across cities to support customers and partners beyond the major metros.
The company has more than 2,600 employees in India and plans to continue expanding its presence as demand grows across the technology ecosystem.
