IKEA India has expanded its presence in the Delhi-NCR region with its second city-store slated to open on July 30. This comes at a time when the Swedish furniture and home furnishings major is accelerating its expansion of its retail footprint in India with plans to have atleast 30 stores by 2030 in India.
Spread across 30,000 sq. ft. (2,800 sq. mt.); the second city store will open at DLF Avenue at Saket in New Delhi and cater to consumers in South and Central Delhi among others. “Customers can explore nearly 3,000 products, with around 1,400 available for immediate takeaway, while the complete IKEA range of more than 6,900 products can be ordered through the IKEA website, app and Shop by Phone service,” it added.
Patrik Antoni, CEO, IKEA India said the company sees significant headroom for growth in Delhi-NCR region. “Delhi is one of the strongest markets in India and is critical for us. To create an experience that is truly relevant, our teams visited several homes across South Delhi to better understand people’s everyday challenges, dreams and aspirations. The large stores that we are building in Noida and Gurgaon will also be key components of our expansion strategy. Our expansion in Delhi will be a big push for IKEA in becoming more accessible to consumers in this key region,” he added.
IKEA had earlier opened a city-format store in the West Delhi region. The company said customer insights from its first Delhi-NCR store are helping shape its expansion strategy in the region.
