Global FMCG companies have said that India is emerging as a key growth region amidst challenging macroeconomic conditions and geopolitical uncertainties. Companies including Unilever, Coca-Cola, Nestle, L’Oreal, Reckitt and Mondelez said their India business posted strong growth in the September quarter.
Mondelez International, known for Cadbury and Oreo, noted that India business clocked “north of 20 per cent growth” while added 1.3 lakh outlets to expand distribution in the country in the September quarter. The company said that growth in emerging markets as well as in the chocolate segment was led by markets including India. “I think it is not by coincidence that you see us delivering numbers that are north of 20 per cent growth in India or for that matter, in China, numbers that have, quite frankly, defeated the odds of the market, particularly if you compare us to other companies. The reason why those numbers are being delivered is because we pursue incremental distribution opportunities quite rigorously,” said Luca Zaramella, COO and EVP, Mondelez International on the earnings call.
On the Q3 earnings call, Unilever’s Global CFO Srinivas Phatak said, “India, our largest emerging market, grew 15 per cent with 7 per cent from volume continuing the momentum of the first half and lapping a GST-led lower prior year comparator. Growth was broad-based.”
Beverage major Coca-Cola said that India delivered a strong volume growth with each of its top ten brands growing double digits in Q3 CY2026. “We are expanding our consumer base by scaling both affordability and premiumisation, strengthening execution, and leaning into emerging channels,” said Henrique Braun, Global CEO, The Coca-Cola Company.
Consumer products maker Reckitt, known for Dettol, Harpic and Lizol, said India business grew double digits supported by broad-based growth momentum. “India maintained strong momentum, with double-digit growth and broad category expansion. Our AI-enabled sales transformation is continuing to enhance our execution in the market,” the company added.
Swiss packaged food major Nestle too noted that in the September quarter growth momentum continued in the Asia, Oceania and Africa zone with India recording 20 per cent organic growth. Philipp Navratil, Chief Executive Officer, Nestlé S.A said, “India is a call-out on both Maggi and KitKat. As you see, this is driven by our billionaire brands that again receive focused investment there. Maggi, KitKat, but also Milo are performing really well in the food and snacks category.”
Recently, global beauty major L’Oreal said its consumer products division posted double-digit growth in India in Q3. The company said it is witnessing a “great turnaround” in the India market, where growth has further accelerated driven by haircare and skincare and that it is also sharpening its focus on the online channel including quick commerce.
