A fire broke out at Parle-G biscuit factory in Richhai industrial area of Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur district on Monday afternoon, prompting the safe evacuation of all workers, an official said.
More than 20 fire tenders and water bowsers from Jabalpur Municipal Corporation, Parle-G and Coca-Cola factories, defence establishments and civic bodies were deployed for firefighting operations after an alert about the incident was received at 3 pm, JMC’s Fire Brigade Officer Kushagra Thakur told PTI from the spot.
“No one was injured in the fire, which was brought under control within an hour. The coordination between different establishments was excellent. It helped us fight the blaze efficiently. The workers of Parle joined in and helped us immensely,” he said.
The fire near the machine room has been put out, while the blaze in the warehouse, which has materials like biscuits and packed raw goods, is on and dousing it will take time, Thakur informed.
The blaze appears to have been triggered by a short circuit, Thakur said, adding the factory might have suffered significant loss in the incident.
Richhai police station personnel and officials of the industrial area management are also at the spot.
