Eternal, the parent entity of Zomato and Blinkit, plans to launch dark.ai, a privacy-focused artificial intelligence (AI) assistant, by the end of 2026, founder Deepinder Goyal said on Wednesday.
Goyal shared the update in a letter to shareholders after Eternal released its Q2 results for the July-Sept quarter.
“Dark is built for power users — founders, researchers, scientists, enterprises and governments — who want to keep their thoughts private, because privacy is essential for competitiveness. On top of privacy, we have fine-tuned our models to give you the absolute best quality of answers we have seen from any LLM (benchmarks will be revealed soon). Our models are trained to not please you, and tell you what they think is the truth.
“Dark will launch globally, hopefully within 2026,” Goyal stated in the letter.
Meanwhile, Eternal’s board approved an agreement between the company and its wholly-owned subsidiary Zomato Entertainment Private Limited (ZEPL) to transfer the Going-out India business housed in the company, along with its respective assets and liabilities to ZEPL, by way of slump sale, on a going concern basis.
Subsequently, the Going-out India business housed in two other wholly-owned subsidiaries of the company – Orbgen Technologies Private Limited (OTPL) and Wasteland Entertainment Private Limited (WEPL) — will also be consolidated into ZEPL, a regulatory filing said.
The business transfer agreement and consolidation are being undertaken as part of an overall internal restructuring exercise to consolidate the Going-out India business operating across various group entities, in a single wholly-owned subsidiary – ZEPL – to streamline the group’s corporate structure and achieve operational synergies, the filing stated.
Eternal, the parent entity of Zomato and Blinkit, on Wednesday, reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 125 crore for the September quarter, nearly doubling from Rs 65 crore a year ago, on robust revenue growth.
The company’s revenue from operations stood at Rs 24,138 crore in the second quarter of the ongoing financial year, up from Rs 13,590 crore on a year-on-year basis, according to a regulatory filing to the exchanges.
Meanwhile, its total expenses also shot up to Rs 24,166 crore from Rs 13,813 crore a year ago.
