Wood products maker Century Plyboards on Wednesday reported a 46 per cent y-o-y increase in consolidated net profit to ₹103.63 crore for the second quarter of this fiscal year, aided by 28.47 per cent revenue growth, as all categories saw strong volume growth during the period.
The Kolkata-headquartered company had posted a net profit of ₹70.94 crore in the second quarter last fiscal. Its revenue from operations rose to ₹1,780.04 crore for Q2 FY27 from ₹1,385.53 crore for Q2 FY26. EBITDA (excluding forex impact) for the period under review stood at ₹232.3 crore against ₹181.6 crore in the year-ago period.
“All the categories did fairly well during the period. Plywood led the way with a growth of almost 29 per cent in terms of revenue. But alongside that, Laminates grew 20 per cent plus. MDF (Medium Density Fiberboards) grew 10 per cent plus. Particle Board grew to almost three times at 200 per cent plus. The Port and Logistics business together grew around 70 per cent during the period,” Century Plyboards (India) Executive Director Keshav Bhajanka told businessline.
Bhajanka said predominantly all the categories saw strong volume growth during the second quarter this fiscal year. The plywood and MDF segments witnessed over 20 per cent and over 11 per cent y-o-y growth in terms of volume, respectively.
During Q2 FY27, the company’s total expenses rose by 27.24 per cent y-o-y at ₹1,640.92 per cent, with the cost of material consumed increasing by 45.33 per cent y-o-y. During the quarter, it went for price increases in different categories due to raw material cost impact.
“In each category we have passed on or tried to pass on the majority of raw material inflation in terms of price increases,” Bhajanka said.
The company is looking to incorporate a subsidiary in Singapore, on the same lines as the one in the Netherlands because the warehouse set up in the European country for the distribution of Compact Laminate, has helped Century grow successfully in the continent. “So, we are now exploring setting up a warehouse in Singapore, so that we can expand the compact business in Singapore and the other regional markets,” Bhajanka added.
