Birlasoft Ltd, the Pune-based IT services company, announced Thursday that it has been named an OpenAI Select Partner within the OpenAI Partner Network. The partnership, positions Birlasoft to build, sell, and deliver AI solutions using OpenAI’s models, including GPT-6 Astra.
The announcement comes as Birlasoft’s stock trades under pressure. Shares fell 2.23 per cent to ₹271.85 on the NSE on Thursday, against a previous close of ₹278.05, with sell-side order flow at 81.21 per cent of the total traded quantity. The stock is already down over 37 per cent year-to-date and has shed about 23.6 per cent over the past year, significantly underperforming the Nifty 500’s 6.46 per cent decline over the same period.
Under the Select Partner designation, Birlasoft will work with enterprises to deploy AI solutions across the manufacturing, life sciences, energy, insurance, and MedTech verticals. The company claims measurable outcomes from its existing AI deployments — including up to 85 per cent faster query response times in life sciences regulatory workflows and 30–40 per cent reduction in manual effort in MedTech enterprise workflows.
CEO and Managing Director Angan Guha said the partnership aims to help enterprises embed AI into real-world workflows and translate AI investments into business outcomes.
Birlasoft, part of the CKA Birla Group, employs over 11,000 professionals. The company said it plans to expand OpenAI-related offerings and scale customer deployments going forward.
The stock’s current market capitalisation stands at approximately ₹7,602 crore, with an annualised volatility of 43.18 per cent.
