Bajaj Consumer Care plans to add approximately 60,000 retail outlets and 1,000 distribution partners annually under Project Aarohan 2.0 from FY28, building on a 66 per cent jump in second-quarter consolidated profit as the maker of Almond Drops Hair Oil expands its product portfolio to support a larger nationwide distribution network.
Describing Aarohan 2.0 as a shift “from a one-time project to an annual growth engine,” the company said its earlier eight-quarter programme added more than 1,00,000 outlets and appointed over 1,100 distribution partners across several States.
Bajaj plans to complete Aarohan’s third phase, covering Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Punjab and Gujarat, during H2 FY27. Productivity improvements across earlier phases are scheduled for Q4 FY27, followed by annual nationwide expansion beginning Q1 FY28.
For the quarter ended September, the company reports a profit of ₹70.2 crore on a revenue of ₹332.7 crore. EBITDA surged 71 per cent to ₹83.3 crore, lifting the operating margin to 25 per cent from 18.6 per cent a year earlier.
Bajaj Almond Drops Hair Oil recorded domestic revenue growth exceeding 30 per cent in both Q2 and H1 FY27, supported by double-digit unit-volume expansion. “Price point packs continued to outperform and remained a key growth engine,” the company said in its investor presentation.
The coconut oil portfolio remained another growth driver, although price deflation kept revenue growth below volume growth. Bajaj is also revamping non-sticky amla oils and nourishing body lotion while testing colour shampoo, lip balm and premium fragrance products in selected markets and channels, targeting mass-market general trade and premium organised retail.
General trade grew in the mid-twenties during Q2, with rural markets marginally outperforming urban markets. Organised trade grew in the high twenties, while quick commerce remained the fastest-growing sub-channel within organised retail.
“Rural edged ahead of urban this quarter,” the company said, reflecting demand across both markets.
The presentation does not quantify revenue contributions from emerging categories or disclose separate quick-commerce sales, leaving their potential contribution to the expanded network unclear.
International operations continued growing faster than the company average during Q2 FY27. Bajaj Consumer Care said its Rest of the World markets, excluding Nepal, Bangladesh, the Gulf countries and Africa, continued their turnaround, while Nepal, the Gulf countries and Africa recorded strong growth. Bangladesh maintained double-digit growth despite a challenging operating environment.
However, elevated light liquid paraffin and refined mustard oil prices, alongside rising copra costs, remain potential margin pressures.
Sustaining growth through H2 FY27 will depend on Almond Drops’ volume momentum, improving distribution productivity and converting newer personal-care products into meaningful revenue contributors. The company has not disclosed a full-year FY27 revenue target.
