Ambuja Cements, part of the Adani Group, plans to add about 30 million tonne per annum (MTPA) of cement capacity through greenfield and brownfield projects, taking its total capacity to 155 MTPA by FY30.
The expansion programme, involving an investment of about ₹14,500 crore, will strengthen its presence in the eastern, western and northern markets.
The proposed expansion includes 15.5 MTPA of grinding capacity in the West, 11.6 MTPA in the East and 2.9 MTPA in the North.
In the eastern region, the company plans grinding units at Rangia and Hojai in Assam, Godda in Jharkhand and Muzaffarpur in Bihar, with a capacity of 2.9 MTPA each.
The projects in West include Mundra and Hazira in Gujarat, and Raigad, Kalyan and Amravati in Maharashtra, each with 2.9 MTPA capacity, besides a 0.7 MTPA unit at Dahanu. The northern expansion includes a 2.9 MTPA unit at Dadri in Uttar Pradesh.
The company will also add a clinker capacity of 4 MTPA each at Umrangso in Assam and Maratha in Maharashtra, and 2.3 MTPA at Mundra.
Vinod Bahety, CEO, Cement Business, Adani Group said the expansion will improve the balance between clinker and grinding capacity, bringing manufacturing closer to consumption centres and lower logistics costs.
The company aims to reduce its cement manufacturing cost to ₹4,000 per tonne by FY28 through improved efficiencies and shorter transportation distances.
The new programme builds on capacity additions already completed. Ambuja added 4.6 MTPA during the first half of FY27 through expansions at Dahej and Kalamboli and the commissioning of the Salai Banwa grinding unit in Uttar Pradesh, taking its capacity to 113.5 MTPA.
Another 3.2 MTPA is expected to be stabilised and ramped up in the second half of FY27, while the 2.4 MTPA Warisaliganj grinding unit in Bihar is also scheduled for commissioning during the period.
The company expects its total capacity to reach 119 MTPA by next March.
Since its acquisition by the Adani Group, Ambuja has completed 11 capacity projects, adding 16.3 MTPA of cement and 9 MTPA of clinker capacity.
The latest expansion marks the next phase of its effort to strengthen its national footprint and improve operating competitiveness.
