Adperma Private Ltd’s ₹6,000-crore phenol and acetone manufacturing complex in West Bengal’s Haldia is expected to begin commercial production by the end of December, a company official said on Wednesday.
Adperma is a wholly owned subsidiary of Haldia Petrochemicals Ltd.
The plant has an annual production capacity of 3.45 lakh tonnes of phenol and 2.15 lakh tonnes of acetone, the company said in a statement.
The facility, inaugurated by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on October 14, is the country’s only integrated phenol and acetone production complex on the East Coast, it said.
Phenol and acetone are key raw materials for several industries, including laminates, plywood, adhesives, resins, paints, pharmaceuticals and specialty chemicals.
The new facility is expected to support downstream manufacturing by providing domestic supplies of the chemicals and lowering reliance on imports.
