Adani Power Ltd board on Wednesday approved raising up to ₹15,000 crore through a qualified institutional placement (QIP) or other permissible modes, as the thermal power generator advances its expansion programme.
The proposed fundraise will involve the issuance of equity shares and/or other eligible securities in one or more tranches, subject to shareholder approval and regulatory clearances. The company in a regulatory filing said the securities may be issued through a QIP or any other permissible route under applicable laws.
The board has also approved increasing the company’s borrowing limit from ₹75,000 crore to ₹1 lakh crore. The enhanced borrowing capacity will allow the company to raise loans, issue debt securities or use other permitted instruments, subject to necessary approvals. These approvals come as Adani Power progresses with its capital expenditure programme to expand its generation capacity to 45 GW.
