Funding for India’s B2C e-commerce sector declined 33 per cent to $1.6 billion in the first ten months of 2026, compared with $2.4 billion in 2025, as a sharp slowdown in late-stage and seed-stage investments weighed on overall deal activity, according to a report by Tracxn Technologies.
The sector recorded 356 funding rounds between January 1 and November 3, 2026, compared with 621 rounds in 2025. Late-stage funding fell 51 per cent to $587 million from $1.2 billion, while seed-stage investments halved to $169 million from $339 million. Early-stage funding, however, remained relatively resilient, rising 3 per cent to $872 million from $846 million in the previous year.
The decline in larger transactions was particularly pronounced, with the sector recording just one mega funding round of $100 million or more in 2026, compared with three in 2025. FS Life’s $110 million Series B in February was the only such deal this year. Ultrahuman followed with a $65 million Series C in May, while Yulu, Snabbit, FirstClub and Nua also raised $50 million or more.
Together, six funding rounds of $50 million and above accounted for $399 million, or 25 per cent of total funding during the period. Bengaluru remained the leading funding destination, attracting $686 million, or 43 per cent of the total, followed by Mumbai at $286 million and Gurugram at $199 million.
On the exits front, acquisition activity declined to 19 deals from 25 in 2025, while IPOs fell to seven from 13. L’Oréal’s $434 million acquisition of Innovist was the largest disclosed acquisition, followed by USV India’s $138 million purchase of Wellbeing Nutrition.
Purple Style Labs and Rentomojo led the year’s IPOs with market capitalisations of $488 million and $438 million, respectively.
Astrotalk was the only company from the segment to achieve unicorn status in 2026, with Zepto, which entered the club in August 2023, being the previous addition.
