Steadfast Ltd, a leading pharmaceutical and nutraceutical company, has invested over ₹100 crore in establishing a fully integrated in-house Formulation Research & Development (FR&D) facility, nutraceutical manufacturing plant and an advanced quality control lab in Noida.
The facility aims to contribute to building world-class research and nutraceutical manufacturing capabilities in India and strengthen the country’s self-reliance in nutraceutical manufacturing.
Though India’s nutraceutical industry is expanding rapidly, research, manufacturing, and quality control infrastructure remain fragmented. The end-to-end integration of research, production and advanced quality testing under one roof remains relatively uncommon in the industry. Brands often rely on multiple third parties for manufacturing, formulation development and product testing.
The plant is capable of manufacturing supplements across different delivery formats, including tablets, powders, effervescent tablets and capsules. It has an annual production capacity of 900 million tablets, 130 million capsules, 900 million effervescent tablets, and 6,500 tonnes of powder.
Licensed by the FSSAI and featuring advanced automation, it has been developed according to the World Health Organisation’s Good Manufacturing Practices guidelines.
The advanced quality control lab is equipped with more than 140 sophisticated analytical instruments and related equipment, sourced from leading Indian and global manufacturers.
It has extensive testing capabilities and will conduct a range of tests at every stage to ensure purity and quality. The QC lab is undergoing the process of accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration, a body under the Quality Council of India.
Aman Puri, CEO, Steadfast Ltd said the fresh investment will strengthen India’s self-reliance in nutraceutical manufacturing.
Currently India imports more supplements than it manufactures, and imported brands dominate the nutraceutical market. Investments such as these in advanced manufacturing, scientific research, and international-level quality systems will play an increasingly important role in increasing consumer confidence and position India as a global nutraceutical manufacturing hub, he said.
