Zee Entertainment’s streaming arm, Zee 5, has launched an AI-powered sampling vertical in collaboration with Google Cloud to help users choose content on the platform.
The new vertical focuses on how users discover and engage with shows on Zee 5, along with show clips that appeal to them based on their preferences. To support this, Google Cloud offers Gemini Pro, the Chirp multilingual model, the Cloud Vision API, and deep learning models for image processing to make long-form content more discoverable.
“Clips puts the most compelling moments from our long form catalogue right into the swipe journey, giving audiences a quick way to find something that catches their attention. The early traction shows us that when technology is applied with a clear understanding of how people consume content today, it can fundamentally change the way audiences find their next watch,” said Tejkarran Singh Bajaj, Business Head – Zee 5 India and AI & Innovation.
Early viewing behaviour shows a meaningful shift from Clips to full-length content, reinforcing the role of short form as an entry point to deeper consumption.
“Our collaboration with Zee 5 on Clips demonstrates how generative AI can drive measurable business value at scale. These joint AI innovations accelerate time-to-market for new platform features while continuously elevating the daily viewer experience,” said Amit Kumar, Managing Director, Digital Natives Business at Google Cloud India.
