Trilegal has opened a new disputes-focused office at Killick House in Fort, Mumbai, the firm’s ninth office in India. The Grade I heritage building, known for its Edwardian façade and neoclassical detailing, will house lawyers from the firm’s disputes practice.
In a response to queries from businessline, the Trilegal team said the new Fort office was necessitated by the growing number of dedicated disputes lawyers at the firm, who have traditionally been based in the area given its proximity to the Bombay High Court and chambers of senior counsel.
The disputes practice currently comprises 28 partners and over 215 lawyers nationally, covering commercial litigation, domestic and international arbitration, insolvency proceedings, regulatory investigations, and white-collar matters. The firm said it is seeing strong demand across all these areas, with particular activity in disputes involving financial services, technology, energy, and infrastructure. Clients are increasingly seeking legal advice at earlier stages, especially where matters carry regulatory, reputational, and commercial implications, alongside litigation risk.
Trilegal said the Killick House office is designed to bring Mumbai’s disputes lawyers into a dedicated collaborative environment while continuing to function as part of a unified national practice across its other offices.
On broader expansion, the firm said its immediate focus is on deepening its existing platform through investment in talent and specialist capabilities rather than simply adding offices. It added that further expansion, whether through strengthening existing offices, adding specialist teams, or entering new markets, would be evaluated where there is a clear strategic and client rationale.
Trilegal, which was founded over 25 years ago, operates under a lockstep partnership model and retains over 1,300 professionals. Its existing offices span Mumbai, Delhi, Gurugram, Bengaluru, Chennai, Pune, and GIFT City.
