Swiggy has expanded the responsibilities of three senior executives across its quick-commerce and food delivery businesses as the company looks to strengthen its leadership bench amid the continued scaling of Instamart and its food marketplace.
Himavant Kurnala has been appointed chief growth and product officer at Instamart, while Nitesh Garg has been elevated to chief technology officer of the quick-commerce business. Saurav Goyal has been appointed chief operating officer of Swiggy’s food marketplace.
Kurnala has been leading Instamart’s product function since 2024 and subsequently took on growth and brand marketing. In his expanded role, he will bring together growth, marketing, analytics and product functions.
During his tenure, Kurnala has worked on several of Instamart’s product initiatives, including AI-powered search and personalisation, Maxxsaver, multi-pod delivery and merchandising and pricing. He has also been involved in the standalone Instamart app and monetisation of its brand portal.
Garg, who has spent more than seven years at Swiggy, has been leading engineering for Instamart and New Initiatives as senior vice-president. He has been responsible for building Instamart’s consumer-facing technology stack and supply-chain systems since the business was launched.
He has also developed technology platforms for advertising, pricing, discounting and catalogues that are now used across Instamart, Food Marketplace and other businesses.
As CTO, Garg will be responsible for technology and engineering as Instamart scales further, with Swiggy highlighting AI adoption, operational reliability and technology infrastructure as key areas of focus.
Goyal, meanwhile, has been appointed COO of the food marketplace after holding multiple roles at Swiggy since joining in 2020. His previous responsibilities included business finance for Food and Instamart and, more recently, driver and delivery product and operations.
He will continue to oversee the driver and delivery function while taking on responsibility for food customer experience.
Swiggy said Goyal played a role in the food marketplace’s growth and operating leverage, as well as the company’s IPO journey. He also led the launch of the shared delivery network for Toing, which is now operational across more than 50 cities.
The appointments come as Swiggy continues to reshuffle and strengthen its senior leadership team across businesses.
Nandita Sinha is the chief executive officer of Instamart, while Gautam Swaroop is its chief business officer. Earlier this year, Swapnil Bajpai was elevated to chief executive officer of Swiggy’s Dineout and Scenes business. Sidharth Bhakoo continues to serve as chief business officer for the food marketplace.
Girish Menon, chief human resources officer at Swiggy, said the company’s approach has been to develop internal talent by moving executives across functions and giving them larger responsibilities.
“Himavant, Nitesh and Saurav exemplify this — each has moved across varied charters and been instrumental in scaling our businesses,” Menon said.
The expanded roles come at a time when Swiggy is simultaneously trying to scale Instamart while improving the economics of its core food delivery business. The latest appointments suggest a greater focus on integrating product, technology, growth and operations as the company enters its next phase of expansion.
