The five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) took on the Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on May 21. DC’s stand-in skipper Faf du Plessis won the toss and elected to field first. Notably, du plessis stood in for Axar Patel, who missed the clash due to illness.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians opener took on right-arm pacer Dhushmantha Chammera, who bowled the second over of the powerplay. On the third ball of his over, Sri Lankan pacer bowled at a fuller length and the left-handed Rickelton stood tall to smash it over his head for the first six of the match.
On the very next ball, Chameera pulled the length slightly back and pitched it outside off. However, the Proteas batter smoked the ball for another maximum over long off. In the end, the over went for 15 runs.

Meanwhile, the ongoing clash holds signficant importance for both the team with their playoff qualification chances depending on the result. There is only one spot left for the playoffs, as Gujarat Titans (GT), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), and Punjab Kings (PBKS) have already qualified and secured their places.
MI are currently fourth in the points table with 14 points, whereas DC are just below, at the fifth spot, with 13 points. If MI win the clash against DC, they will be through to the playoffs as the fourth team while DC will stand eliminated. The qualification for them is tougher as they have to not just win against MI but also against Punjab Kings (PBKS) for securing a place in the playoffs.
