The Uttarakhand government Wednesday signed an MoU with Bartholet Maschinenbau AG, a Swiss ropeway manufacturer, to develop a ropeway from Tapovan in Rishikesh to Kunjapuri Temple in Tehri’s Narendranagar.
According to officials, ropeway project will provide seamless, eco-friendly access from Rishikesh, thereby reducing travel time, enhancing visitor safety, and minimising environmental impact.
The MoU with Bartholet — a leading Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) based in Switzerland and part of the HTI Group — was finalised after evaluation by a high-level panel. Executed under a PPP model using the design-build-finance-operate-transfer framework, Bartholet will be responsible for preparing detailed project report at its own cost, based on comprehensive techno-economic assessments.
