Electric two-wheeler maker Ultraviolette Automotive on Thursday launched the X-47 Venom, the first motorcycle built on its new 100V VX-100 architecture, as it gears up to roll out the Tesseract and Shockwave models next year.
Priced at an introductory ₹2.65 lakh, the new motorcycle will be available in India from November, with the company also planning a European launch at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan on November 3.
The next-generation X-47 Crossover comes with an IDC-certified range of 343 km, a top speed of 155 kmph and a 0-100 kmph acceleration time of 5.9 seconds. It delivers 40 hp of power and 550 Nm of torque at the wheel. The motorcycle is 20 kg lighter than the previous-generation platform, with the company introducing a new LIGHTFURY motor and SRB-11 battery technology.
The VX-100 architecture is designed to improve performance, efficiency, and charging speeds. The X-47 Venom supports 12 kW DC fast charging, which the company claims is a first for an Indian electric two-wheeler. It also features a 1.6 kW onboard charger.
On the technology front, the motorcycle features a seven-inch touchscreen, radar-based rider assistance, integrated front and rear dashcams, cruise control, and a battery management system with a pyro-fuse. The latter is designed to disconnect the battery in the event of a critical failure. Ultraviolette also unveiled B-MAX, an airbag-equipped riding vest intended to protect the rider’s upper body in a crash.
Speaking to businessline ahead of the launch, Niraj Rajmohan, CTO and Co-Founder, Ultraviolette, said the company planned to launch about four vehicles on the VX-100 platform over the next year, with the X-47 Venom being the first. The X-47 retains its crossover positioning, targeting riders looking for a motorcycle suited to city commutes, long-distance rides and occasional off-road use, he added.
The company is targeting monthly production of 1,000 vehicles and expects volumes across its portfolio to reach 10,000 units a month by October 2027. Exports currently account for more than 10 per cent of its volumes and are expected to rise to 15 per cent over the next year and 20-25 per cent in two to two-and-a-half years, Rajmohan said.
Alongside the VX-100 architecture, X-47 Venom, and UV LIGHTFURY motor, Ultraviolette is introducing B-MAX, a new reusable safety vest for riders.
