Released as a small film amidst modest expectations, Tamil film Tourist Family went on to become a huge blockbuster by raking in over Rs 70 crore at the box office. Starring Sasikumar and Simran in lead roles, the film is directed by a talented debutant named Abishan Jeevinth.
After winning the hearts of the Tamil audience, Tourist Family has now floored none other than the master filmmaker SS Rajamouli. The SSMB29 director took to X last night and heaped praises on Tourist Family. “Saw a wonderful, wonderful film Tourist Family. Heartwarming and packed with rib-tickling humor. And kept me intrigued from beginning till end,” the star director posted.
Rajamouli went on to appreciate the film’s director, saying, “Great writing and direction by Abishan Jeevinth. Thank you for the best cinematic experience in recent years,’ Rajamouli said, urging everyone to not miss the film in theaters.
Tourist Family was released in cinemas worldwide on May 1st alongside Kollywood star Suriya’s Retro. The heartwarming family drama narrates the tale of a quirky Sri Lankan Tamil family after moving to Rameswaram in India. The film reportedly surpassed Retro’s box office collection in Tamil Nadu by amassing Rs 50.80 crores.
