Many experts and bowlers have welcomed these amendments introduced by the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India), including India and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) veteran pacer and 2025 Champions Trophy winner, . The 34-year-old fast bowler stated that not only does the use of saliva help the ball reverse more effectively, but the option to change the ball during the middle overs also aids bowlers in tough conditions. A drier ball offers significantly better grip, allowing bowlers to maintain their line and length more consistently throughout a match.
“For a long time, the rules have favoured batters — but now, things are finally shifting a bit. After COVID, the saliva ban made it tough to reverse the ball, but with that lifted, bowlers can finally get some swing back. Also, being able to change a wet ball is a big plus — a dry ball gives better grip and life, especially in tough conditions,” Shami said in an exclusive segment on JioHotstar.
