It is not a cakewalk to make movies with an ensemble cast. Some actors have different approaches and different moods and don’t easily gel well. However, some directors have it quite easy while working with multiple stars together. In today’s time, we don’t see many ensemble movies. But in the early 2000s, movies with big stars would come together.
In this entertainment news article, we are talking about a beloved movie, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. Directed by Karan Johar, it stars Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan, and Kareena Kapoor Khan. The emotional drama is loved for its sentimental story, performances, and music. But it wasn’t so easy to make K3G so iconic.
In an interview, Nikkhil Advani, who worked as the AD for Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, revealed how tough it was to get all the actors together for the song Bole Chudiyan. It features SRK, Kajol, Hrithik, and Kareena. When they were shooting for it, no one would come out of their vanity van. Everyone waited for the other person to step out first.
Nikkhil Advani told Filmfare that when he called Kajol, she would ask about Shah Rukh Khan, and when he went to SRK, he would ask if Hrithik had come out of his van. Then Hrithik would ask if Kareena had come. They would only step out if their co-stars came out first. Then, when he went to Jaya Bachchan, she asked about Amitabh Bachchan and said, “Has the old man come? No. So nobody has come,” he revealed.
Then Nikhil and other ADs stood outside the actors’ vanity van on the sets so that they would come out. He even revealed that Karan Johar fainted while he was shouting on Walkie and looking at the monitor as well. Further, the Kal Ho Naa Ho director said, “They are stars; they have tantrums but once they are there, they would be like, ‘You are looking so lovely’,” he shared.
