Hyderabad’s Begumpet Airport on Wednesday received a bomb threat, an official said.
Following the threat, police are conducting a thorough search of the airport and its premises with the bomb squad.
“Begumpet airport received a bomb threat mail this morning. We are currently conducting a thorough search of the airport and its premises with the bomb squad. Further details will be provided later,” ANI quoted ACP Begumpet as saying.
On Tuesday, in a similar incident, an IndiGo flight 6E 2706, travelling from Muscat to Delhi, made an emergency landing at Nagpur airport after a bomb threat was received.
Earlier on Monday, a Lufthansa flight LH752 scheduled to land at Hyderabad airport had to make a U-turn and return to the Frankfurt airport in Germany after the plane did not receive permission to land following a bomb threat.
After the incident, a committee was formed to assess the threat as per Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
“A bomb threat assessment committee was formed, and all procedures were followed as per SOP. In the interest of safety, the airline was advised to divert back to the origin or the nearest suitable airport,” ANI reported, quoting an official source.
