In a recent interaction with The Indian Express, the show’s producer Asit Modi spoke about bringing back the iconic character which was originally played by Disha Vakani. He said, “We will definitely bring back the character of Daya Bhabhi.”

He also acknowledged the fact that most of the fans have said that the show has not felt the same since her departure. Dayaben’s unique laugh, her chemistry with Jethalal, and her Garba steps spilled magic. The producer and fans feel that it is hard to replace Disha.

Modi even revealed that they have already shortlisted a few actors for the role. He said that viewers might soon get to see a new face stepping into Daya’s shoes. It’s been five long years since Disha exited the show and her absence is deeply felt. “She cared deeply for her fellow actors and the crew,” he said. It seems as the producer and the makers of the show are looking for someone who will carry forward Disha’s legacy in the show.
