Popular comedian Sunil Pal who went to Haridwar to attend an event got kidnapped on December 2. The kidnappers demanded a ransom of Rs 20 lakh but released him after he paid them Rs 8 lakhs. Sunil narrated the entire kidnapping incident.
Pal’s wife lodged a missing person report at the Santacruz police station after he did not respond to her calls. Recently, a CCTV went viral on social media, wherein the kidnappers were seen using the ransom money to purchase costly jewellery at a store in Meerut. In the CCTV footage video, two individuals, accused of abducting comedian Sunil were seen shopping jewelry in Meerut. At a store in Sadar Bazar, the kidnappers spent Rs 4 lakh and later purchased Rs 2.25 lakh at another store in the Lal Kurti area. They also requested the jewellers to issue the bills under Pal’s name.

As per the latest reports, the Mumbai police have seized the bank accounts of both jewellers. They have arrested 5-6 individuals in connection with the kidnapping case. This CCTV footage is another additional evidence in the case.
Sunil in an exclusive interview with Zee News spoke about the incident and mentioned how the booking of the show was a fraud and not a PR stunt. He said, ‘PR stunt hota toh firauti ko baat kahi thi, maine kaha doston ko bolta hoon, ghar waalon ko bataana mat. Maine mere ek mitra se paise mangvaye and usne galti se poochh liya and main ghar par nahin pahuncha and woh log chinta mein the, toh gharwalo ne police complaint kar di and waha se baat khul gayi’.
On the work front, Sunil is a popular comedian, who gained a lot of fame as he won the comedy reality show The Great Indian Laughter Challenge in 2005. He has also starred in supporting roles in Bollywood films like Phir Hera Pheri, Apna Sapna Money Money and Bombay to Goa among others.
