Gifting luxury cars is nothing new in the film industry, but sometimes the story behind the gift makes it truly memorable. That’s exactly what happened between actor Suriya and director Prem Kumar.
After directing the emotional drama Satyam Sundaram, a film that quietly touched hearts despite not being a commercial blockbuster, Prem Kumar had his heart set on buying a specific white Mahindra Thar. It was a dream vehicle for him, and he searched everywhere but couldn’t find that exact model in white. He even asked a close associate of Suriya’s family, Raja, for help. Despite trying all options, they couldn’t track it down.
As time passed, Prem had to use the money he’d saved for other needs and let go of the dream. He told Raja he was done trying.
But quietly, behind the scenes, Suriya had taken note.
One day, Prem received a message from Suriya, with a picture of the exact white Thar he had wanted. Caught off guard, Prem called Raja, worried he couldn’t afford it. That’s when Raja told him the truth: “This isn’t for sale. It’s a gift from Suriya.”
Prem was stunned.
Suriya had gone out of his way to find the exact model and surprise him, without saying a word in advance. The very same day, an emotional Prem drove the car for nearly 50 kilometers, just soaking in the moment. It wasn’t about the price, it was about the thought, the effort, and the love behind it.
