Nitanshi Goel, of Laapata Ladies fame, made her Cannes debut last night in a JADE by Monica and Karishma ensemble. The Bollywood newbie chose a custom black gown that intertwines signature kasab embroidery with delicate gold macrame detailing.
“Her custom ensemble weaves together our signature kasab embroidery and delicate macrame detailing, bringing together heritage and whimsy in perfect harmony,” said Monica Shah from JADE, adding that the outfit drew inspiration from “spring florals under the moonlight.”
Kasab embroidery, a form of zardosi embroidery, refers to the intricate traditional art of weaving metallic threads — usually in gold or silver — into fabrics such as cotton, silk, velvet, or brocade for a finer finish. Designers are adopting this traditional technique into their modern designs to nod to India’s rich heritage, craftsmanship, and timeless elegance, the brand added on Instagram.
For her first look at the Festival, the actor paid tribute to Bollywood icons in another custom outfit by the designer duo. Styled by Shrey and Urja, she wore a white pre-draped sari, a backless blouse featuring a pearl border, and a sheer gauzy dupatta. The ensemble features delicate bow embroidery, an age-old resist-dyeing technique that brings paisley motifs to life, and cascading floral accents.
However, the highlight of her look was a custom pearl parandi designed by Be Abhika, which featured black-and-white images of Bollywood veterans stuck to pearl strings.
“A tribute to Madhubala, Nargis, Meena Kumari, Nutan, Waheeda Rehman, Asha Parekh, Vyjayanthimala, Hema Malini, Rekha, and Sridevi and the timeless icons who defined Indian cinema,” the stylist duo shared on their social media.
Madhulika Anchalia, co-founder, who was part of the entire process with the styling team, told that courageous creativity, Indian identity, and self-expression—these three values shaped the custom pearl parandi created for Nitanshi Goel’s .
“Inspired by the timeless grace of classic Bollywood icons, we crafted this piece in just three days as a tribute to legacy, reimagined for the global stage,” she shared.
Netizens, as always, could not get enough of her look and replied to her pictures with comments like: ‘Ohho dekho phool khili ha,’ ‘Beautiful girl spread her glamour and making us proud,’ and ‘You have such remarkable talent, you truly deserve to be in many more movies.🧿❤’
In other news, Jacqueline Fernandes also recorded her presence at the French Riviera, representing India at the Red Sea Film Festival at Cannes.
She was first seen in a long cotton shirt dress styled with an upcycled silver set, featuring traditional jewellery reimagined as both top and skirt. Handcrafted by skilled karigars in using old chains and heirloom silver, the look pays homage to India’s tribal roots while embracing a contemporary edge. Every drape, every detail is a tribute to slow, conscious craftsmanship.
“Power-packed panel of ‘Women in Cinema’. We discussed our moments of challenges joy and dreams together. It’s amazing how cinema can unite us all ❤️ Wearing @akok.in,” the Gentlemen actor captioned her Instagram post while sharing snippets of her stunning look.
Fernandez looked resplendent in a ruby red velvet corset gown for the “Women in Cinema” panel celebrating women’s cinematic contributions. Puffed up sleeves, a chic updo, and a diamond neckpiece added to her charm and elegance. She was also spotted wearing a strapless shimmering gold dress on the red carpet.
