Who does not remember Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Thi? The show that was the brainchild of Ektaa Kapoor completely changed the television viewing experience for fans. It set a benchmark and brought a revolution of sorts as it got the entire country hooked to the show. Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi was the debut serial of Smriti Irani and she achieved the greatest heights of success; becoming a household name. Amar Upadhaya, Apara Mehta, Ronit Roy and many more were a part of the show. The recent buzz is that the show is making its return. Is Smriti Irani too? Ektaa Kapoor recently confirmed the same.
As reported by Hindustan Times, at a recent event spoke about the return of . She revealed that the next instalment will have around 150 episodes and there is a story behind it. She said, “The love we have for this program brought everyone related to it back together to complete just those 150 episodes to reach that 2000 episode. This show deserves that.” She also commented on the return of as Tulsi Virani. Seemingly confirming the reports, Ektaa Kapoor stated, “We are bringing politics into entertainment, or better, a politician into entertainment.”
Smriti Irani has now become a full-time politician. She has been away from acting since 2012. After playing Tulsi Virani in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Smriti Irani played the role of Sita in epic mythological drama Ramayana directed by Nitesh Bharadwaj. The show aired in 2002. Later, she was seen in the lead role of Uma in 2007’s Thodi Si Zameen Thoda Sa Aasmaan. In 2009, she also appeared in a comedy show titled Maniben.com. Her last acting stint was in 2012 in a Bengali film titled Amrita. To a news agency, Smriti Irani had then spoken about quitting acting and revealed, “When I came to politics and became an MP, I gave up my job as an actor. If you want to be taken seriously for your political contributions, then you need to give it that much time.”
