Shikhar Dhawan, who opened the batting in ODI cricket with during the fag end of his career, said that the Punjab-based batter was the perfect candidate to lead India in red-ball cricket. Notably, Gill replaced Rohit Sharma to become India’s 37th Test captain.
The 25-year-old is going to start his tenure as India’s red-ball skipper during the upcoming five-match tour of England. Dhawan expressed his confidence in Shubman, saying that the youngster has performed well in the (IPL) and has represented the national team for quite some time.
