There have been many actors who went on to reject a film which became a huge hit later. Many times actors reject movies when the do not like the story or sometimes budget is the issue. Sometimes, they even have problems with the rest of the cast of the movie. These rejections sometimes turn positive but sometimes, they do regret over their decision as the movie turns out to be a big success. These things have happened with many big stars of the country. In fact, even Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Abhishek Bachchan and Shahid Kapoor have faced this.

Well, we are talking about Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Rang De Basanti. The sociopolitical action-drama released in 2006 and had an interesting storyline. The characters of the film are amazingly written and the cast is just perfect. Biggies like , Hrithik, Abhishek and Shahid rejected it but Mr Perfectionist of Bollywood grabbed the film.
was just brilliant in the movie and one cannot imagine Rang De Basanti without him now. Siddharth, Sharman Joshi, Atul Kulkarni, Kunal Kapoor, R Madhavan, Soha Ali Khan, and Waheeda Rehman were also a part of the movie. The movie broke records and became the highest-grossing film in the country that time.
It even won a National award at that time and became the most loved movie. Earlier, SRK was reportedly finalised for the role of Daljit AKA DJ. However, he rejected it as he was already doing Paheli. was approached for the role of Ajay Rathore but he too rejected it. Abhishek rejected the movie and Shahid was offered the role of Karan Singhania but he too left.
Soha Ali Khan was not the first choice as well. Preity Zinta was approached for this role but even she did not take up the movie.
