IPL 2025 was suspended for a week on Friday, May 9 due to the tensions between Pakistan and India. Meanwhile, the bomb threats for Indian stadiums continue to come.
There was already a bomb threat at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, which is also the home ground for the , less than two weeks ago. Today, the Rajasthan State Sports Council President, Neeraj A Pawan, mentioned that they received another threat through email, and the bomb disposal squad and the frisking team have already arrived to investigate the situation.
“We received a bomb threat through email. The mail was then sent to the Police Commissioner. The bomb disposal squad and frisking team have arrived here. The investigation is underway,” Rajasthan State Sports Council President Neeraj A Pawan said as quoted by Hindustan Times.
While the security has been beefed up in Jaipur, there was another bomb threat received in less than an hour at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. The situation was handled by Tukoganj Police station in-charge Jitendra Singh Yadav who mentioned that they had received information from the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) that they had also received a similar e-mail threatening to blow up the venue.
“We received information from the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) office that they had received an email threatening to blow up the Holkar Stadium,” Yadav said.
Bomb threat at Eden Gardens last month
The day was April 7 when the Eden Gardens was also a target of a bomb threat during a match between the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and . The email, traced to an unknown sender, was found in the inbox of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB). While no device was found, CAB president Snehasish Ganguly confirmed that the security protocols were immediately implemented.
