The success of Sankranthi Ki Vastunnam has changed the game for Dil Raju once again. He returned to success and gained more confidence in his lineup of movies. Meanwhile, there are reports about his collaboration with Akshay Kumar for the remake of Sankranthi Ki Vastunnam in Hindi. Reportedly, there are certain challenges ahead.
As per the reports in the film circles, Sankranthi Ki Vastunnam emerged as the first big hit of 2025. The movie grossed more than ₹300 crore rupees at the box office. The Telugu film’s success was driven by Venkatesh’s impeccable comic timing, Aishwarya Rajesh’s Godavari dialect, child artist Revanth’s charm, and Bheems’ hit soundtrack. Most of all, its strong regional nativity resonated with audiences.
Adapting it to Bollywood would require significant changes to align with North Indian tastes. Most of the time, the Bollywood makers face failure in this aspect. Especially after the failure of the Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo remake, many Hindi actors are a little hesitant about picking up remakes again. Dil Raju also previously struggled to remake F2 in Hindi and ultimately released only the dubbed version.
Sankranthi Ki Vastunnam is exclusively branded as a festival-based film. It is not easy to replicate the film’s theme in another language. Another hurdle is finding a director with Anil Ravipudi’s comic sensibilities.
The remakes of Jersey, Gaddalakonda Ganesh, and Baby John have failed at the box office, pointing lot of fingers at the remake of Sankranthi Ki Vastunnam.
Furthermore, its upcoming OTT release could reduce remake interest. If the project moves forward, extensive reworking will be necessary to make it a success in Bollywood.
