Almost four years later, Vijayashanthi did a second movie in her second innings. Despite Sarileru Neekevaru not bringing her big success as an actress, Vijayashanthi took her time to pick her next film. With the recent release, Arjun S/o Vyjayanthi, she tried to attract attention, but the film is struggling to achieve hit status. It once again pushes Vijayashanthi back to square one, without any success in the second innings.
On the box office front, the film’s collections are showing clear signs of struggle. Though the first weekend looked somewhat promising, the numbers didn’t live up to expectations. Kalyan Ram seems to have miscalculated on several fronts. He placed a lot of faith in the climax, expecting it to leave a strong emotional impact and attract family audiences. Similarly, Vijayashanthi expected that her character would put her back in demand.
The problem is that Vijayashanthi’s connection with younger audiences wasn’t strong. Unlike Ramya Krishna, who continues to appear regularly in mainstream roles, Vijayashanti hasn’t been visible in recent years. In Sarileru Neekevvaru, for example, the success depended more on Mahesh Babu’s appeal and the film’s entertaining segments rather than just her role.
Even now, with this film, it did not entirely revolve around her presence. Vijayashanthi truly has the potential to occupy the space where she can play strong characters and pose a challenge to the likes of Ramyakrishna. But unfortunately, she is unable to pick the right script. Many commented that Vijayashanthi was unhappy after the release of Sarileru Neekevvaru, as her role did not meet with a big success. Now, she may has to face similar disappointment.
