Salman Khan is geared up to entertain his fans this year with his much-anticipated movie Sikandar. After a long wait, fans will witness the superstar’s Eid release and the expectations are quite high. Besides AR Murugadoss’ film, the superstar had also signed a big project with popular director Atlee. However, it seems the project won’t be happening anytime soon. Fans were eagerly looking forward to this dream collaboration, so what exactly went wrong?
According to reports, Salman Khan was supposed to do a high-octane action drama with filmmaker Atlee Kumar. This would have been Atlee’s second Hindi film after delivering the blockbuster Jawan with Shah Rukh Khan in 2023. Atlee, one of the most successful filmmakers in India right now, boasts an incredible track record. With a directorial portfolio that spans a decade and encompassed five films – Raja Rani (2013), Theri (2016), Mersal (2017), Bigil (2019) and Jawan (2023) – without any commercial failures, Atlee has been successful.
As soon as the news broke that the superstar-director duo would be joining hands for a promising action film, fans were thrilled. However, it seems that the project has now been scrapped.
As per the reports, it is not known what exactly led to the shelving of the Salman-Atlee movie. However, the decision comes after the failure of Varun Dhawan’s 2024 action film Baby John, which was produced by Kumar. As reported by Masala, Atlee will be focusing on his next movie with Allu Arjun. Does this mean we will have to wait longer to see the Jawan director work on his second Hindi film? For now, that seems to be the case.
As for Salman Khan, his upcoming film Sikandar will also stars Rashmika Mandanna in the lead role. The actor is all set to return as the Devil in Sajid Nadiadwala’s Kick 2. The film is a sequel to their 2014 action thriller Kick, which also starred Jacqueline Fernandez in the lead role.
