Marriages and divorces are not spaced with a long duration in between. Further, divorces are accompanied with alimonies, felt Bollywood actor Salman Khan. The bachelor actor’s video gained traction within minutes of release on the internet.
He was voicing his opinion on the new season of The Great Indian Kapil Show, in which he will feature as the first guest, the premiere scheduled on Netflix on June 21. Ahead of the full episode, a clip of the actor speaking about increasing divorce rate and alimony evoked netizens’ interest.
He said, “Pehle log ek dsure ke liye sacrifice karte the, ek tolerance ka factor tha. Ab raat ko ek taang aa jaati hai upar, khaarate liye jaate hain, uske upar divorce ho jaata hai..” which means: Earlier, people used to make sacrifices for each other—there was a sense of tolerance. Now, if a leg comes over during the night, or someone snores, it leads to a divorce.
Salman said, Even a small misunderstanding can lead to divorce these days. People don’t take time to resolve issues anymore and it doesn’t end there after the divorce, the wife even walks away with half the money.
Khan’s remark left not just the audience but the host Kapil Sharma, Archana Puran Singh and Navjot Singh Sidhu, also present on the sets, in splits. Significantly, many netizens agreed with Salman’s observation.
On the work front, Salman Khan’s next film is based on the India-China clash at the Galwan Valley in 2020. Khan would portray the role of Colonel B. Santosh Babu, the courageous Army officer who headed the 16 Bihar Regiment during the confrontation, under the direction of Apoorva Lakhia.
He was last seen in AR Murugadoss’ action thriller Sikandar.
