One of the most controversial and vindictive actions by the previous YSR Congress government was the use of government funds to finance propaganda films, such as Vyuham, through director Ram Gopal Varma. With the arrival of the NDA government, irregularities in the AP Fibernet system have come to light, and now they are coming back to haunt RGV.
AP Fibernet chairman GV Reddy briefly addressed the media, shedding light on the facts of the case. He revealed that the government had misused funds belonging to Fibernet to pay RGV for making propaganda films like Vyuham.
Reddy disclosed that the department had asked RGV to repay the money that was illegally transferred to him from the AP Fibernet account. However, RGV’s reaction was unexpected, as he claimed he didn’t have the funds to repay.
“We issued a notice to RGV to repay the money in question. But he replied that he doesn’t have the money to make the repayment and can’t do so at this time,” said GV Reddy.
The ongoing allegation is that AP Fibernet, under Jagan’s regime, paid Rs 2.15 crore to RGV through a pay-per-view streaming model for Vyuham. However, the film garnered only 1,863 views, making the Rs 2.15 crore payment seem grossly disproportionate. The government is now actively pursuing this case.
