Gone are the days when you had to switch the channel to avoid second-hand embarrassment if and when a kissing scene flashed on the TV screen. Now is the digital age, wherein the audience is more acquainted with seeing physical intimacy on screen.

A larger portion of the credit, however, also goes to the sea of change brought in the filming process of these scenes. There’s not the slightest hint of vulgarity or overdoing. The kissing scenes are, these days, subtly and aesthetically shot. The addition of intimacy coordinators also add a lot of nuances to them.

There are a few kissing scenes that sing of sexual tension and chemistry between the people — purely due to the way they are shot. Here’s a list of the most aesthetically shot kissing scenes of Hindi films.

The sheer confidence with which Katrina Kaif walks towards Hrithik Roshan before he leaves the city is absolute cinema.

Huge props to Zoya Akhtar to give it a sensual and steamy yet romantic flavour — one of the major highlights of the film.

A lot has been said about the steamy kiss in the film Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram Leela. This was perhaps one of the very few scenes of Indian cinema, wherein the actors got carried away. Ranveer and Deepika continued to kiss even after director Sanjay Leela Bhansali had called for a cut — and that itself says a lot about the beauty of the scene. Mr Bhansali and Ranveer-Deepika’s brewing romance — pure gold!

Don’t we all love kisses preceded by a confession? The scene that has the famous ‘mujhe tumse pyaar ho jaayega – phir se… aur tumhein nahin hoga – phir se’ is followed by a sweet, romantic kiss between Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor, forcing us to melt into a pool of mush.

Ayan Mukerji’s brilliant vision comes into play here as he showcases Bunny and Naina finally realising what they mean to each other oh-so-subtly.

Shahid and Kareena were to millennials what Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor are to GenZ. After sharing the screen space in three movies, Jab We Met proved to be the perfect farewell to their much-publicised relationship.

Jab We Met is also inarguably Imtiaz Ali’s best work till date. It was their heart-melting kiss in the climactic sequence that stole audience’s heart.

Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Kabir Singh is popular for more things than one. It’s music, actors, their chemistry and the bipolarity in its reviews — everything spelled blockbuster.

But what made this film register a place in everyone’s mind and heart was the several kissing scenes between the main leads. Cannot pin point one, because every kiss sang of romance and chemistry. Vanga’s vision of a hyperbolic romance also stood out in these scenes.

Which of these kissing scenes do you prefer?
