Ranveer Allahbadia’s ‘sex with parents’ remarks on India’s Got Latent landed him in legal trouble. The YouTuber/podcaster has faced immense backlash and even an FIR is filed against him. Ranveer didn’t appear for his second round of questioning and the Mumbai Police revealed that his number was off and his house was locked. Yesterday, Allahbadia revealed that he will be cooperating but is worried due to death threats.
In his post, Ranveer Allahbadia wrote, “My team and I are cooperating with the police and all other authorities. I will follow due process and be available to all agencies. My remark about parents was insensitive and disrespectful. It is my moral responsibility to do better and I am genuinely sorry. I’m watching death threats pour in from people saying that they want to kill me and hurt my family. People have invaded my mother’s clinic posing as patients. I’m feeling scared and I don’t know what to do. But I’m not running away. I have full faith in the police and the judicial system of India.”
The post went viral on Reddit and many have strongly reacted to the way the YouTuber has been receiving threats. One person wrote, “Disgusting behaviour and heights of velapanti! Imagine entering a doctor’s clinic and creating a ruckus cause you have nothing better to do that day than feel offended! Really want to know those PPL who did this did they stand outside police stations and courts to demand justice for PPL who actually need the laws support! Easy targets hain toh pelo! Jagruth nagrik my a$$!”
A Redditor commented, “This is a new low for India. I hope him and his family are safe. It makes me sick watching how this whole ordeal has been unfolding.” One more Reddit user commented, “Ranveer has apologized for what he did. And what he did was certainly wrong, but going after him so ruthlessly, threatening his family, giving death threats, demanding encounters and burning his effigies is just irrational and sad. What he said was of extreme distaste, but many people abuse daily, saying things much more vile than what he said, and there are no similar consequences for their actions. What he said was bad, and he was wrong for saying it. But people do much worse things without getting the same hate. Wish these people had shown the same determination and passion when a rapist is bailed out seasonally. To criticise is one thing, but to absolutely go bonkers is another.”
